Congratulations to St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School from Mackay for winning the 2022 Get Ready Queensland School Competition!
They have won a visit from rugby league legend and Get Ready Queensland Ambassador Johnathan Thurston to showcase how they prepare for natural disasters.
Schools from across Queensland entered the draw, with 70 classes and almost 2,000 students participating in Get Ready Queensland activities to help them learn about extreme weather and how to prepare.
It included entries from as far as north as Lakeland in the Cook Shire, down to Thangool, Bribie Island, and the Gold Coast.
Get Ready Queensland Ambassador Johnathan Thurston said the school visit was one of the highlights of his role as Get Ready Queensland Ambassador.
“The visit to St Francis Xavier is great chance to talk to the school kids about what they learnt during the activity and hopefully they will continue the conversation with their families when they get home.
“The Get Ready Queensland program encourages all Queenslanders to take steps now to protect what’s most important to them in the case of an emergency,” he said.
We can’t wait to see you soon!
