Last month the Get Ready Queensland (GRQ) team hosted a Resources Accessibility Workshop with representatives from minority communities, state government and local government to co-design enhancements to our key resources, including the household emergency plan.

The workshop was the second step in a collaborative process, which started with one-on-one consultation sessions, aiming to make GRQ items more inclusive and accessible.

The session demonstrated the importance of working together to create accessible materials for all Queenslanders. Participants were extremely passionate and provided profound insight based on personal experiences.

Simplicity, accessibility and universal design were the themes that emerged from the workshop.

Their input will be used to redevelop materials, which will be available for free for anyone to use to Get Ready for natural disasters.
