This year, beautiful Nundah State School hosted the launch of our 2022 Get Ready Queensland Week campaign. A simultaneous launch was held at Depot Hill State School in Rockhampton.

Get Ready Queensland Ambassador Johnathan Thurston officially launched the week alongside the Bureau of Meteorology’s announcement of its 2022–23 severe weather outlook. 

Students enjoyed visits from key emergency services and a presentation from Johnathan Thurston and Channel 7 meteorologist Tony Auden on natural disaster preparedness.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) experts provided an in-depth look at the 2022–23 severe weather season and demonstrated how BOM outlooks for the months ahead can help you make important decisions for the season.

There was an in-depth look at expected weather in the coming months and how you can get ready for it.

Hosted by Community Services Industry Alliance

Time: 10:00am – 11:30am AEST

An important event to accelerate your organisation’s resilience maturity – that is, the way your organisation responds to and learns from disasters and pandemics.

Community Services Industry Alliance launched a exciting FREE online Resilience Maturity Scorecard and Playbook. This safe and secure tool was demonstrated and experts spoke on board-level strategies to “bounce forward” from disruptive events to be stronger than before.

Attendees walked away with real world strategies as part of their journey towards resilience maturity.

This was the finale of a national challenge to encourage new ideas, new thinking and new research for disaster preparedness. The Disaster Challenge Final brought together finalists to pitch their brilliant ideas to an audience of emergency managers and disaster preparedness experts.

For the first time ever, Brisbane City Council and Get Ready Queensland hosted Get Ready Brisbane – Emergency Services Expo!

This family fun day gave kids and adults alike the chance to see how to get prepared for natural disasters and understand ways to stay safe in extreme weather.
